By Digital News Asia November 26, 2021
The National Tech Association of Malaysia (Pikom) has appointed Dr Sean Seah (pic) as the new chairman for the 2021-2022 term effective immediately.
In a statement, Pikom said Seah takes over from immediate past chairman, Danny Lee, who has completed his maximum two-year tenure as chairman. The announcement was made after Pikom hosted their 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) via a virtual platform.
“I am deeply honoured to take on the role as chairman of Pikom and to continue building on the good work laid by my predecessor.
“Next year will be a momentous year as Malaysia hosts the World Congress on IT (WCIT 2022). This is the best opportunity for us to showcase Malaysia to the world, [so] let’s work together to deliver an exceptional experience,” said Seah.
The WCIT 2022 will take place in Penang. The congress will serve as an extended platform for members to reach out to global markets and to be recognised as up-and-coming tech players in a borderless landscape, Pikom said.
Pikom said it represents over 1,000 tech companies and will continue to play a substantial role in the digital transformation for Malaysia by becoming a key catalyst for the private sector in embracing digitalisation.
“Our goal moving forward is to continue working with the government towards the road to economic recovery, reduce social disparity by providing our strength in connectivity technology.
“We also want to continue being the most influential association in the Malaysia’s tech industry and I pledge to do my best for the industry,” said Seah.
Meanwhile, the AGM also saw the election of Pikom council members. The list of elected councillors for the term 2021-2022 are:
